3105 Aluminum Sheet For Bottle Caps

rating:

With years of deep experience in the aluminum packaging industry, we have observed a clear trend: as demand grows for carbonated beverages, premium spirits, and large-diameter food packaging, traditional 8011 aluminum alloy is reaching its performance limits regarding resistance to internal pressure deformation and long-term corrosion. To address this specific challenge, Haomei Aluminum has launched the 3105 aluminum sheet for bottle caps. Leveraging the inherent advantages of the Al-Mn-Mg alloy system—combined with precise rolling and tempering processes—we provide a substrate solution that offers superior strength, enhanced corrosion resistance, and greater forming stability for demanding applications.

As an Al-Mn-Mg rust-proof alloy, the core advantage of 3105 aluminum lies in its significantly upgraded mechanical properties. Haomei 3105 aluminum sheets are available in H14 and H16 tempers; the widely used H16 temper offers a stable tensile strength of 170–210 MPa and a yield strength of ≥150 MPa—an improvement of approximately 15% over the 8011 aluminum alloy in the same temper—resulting in vastly superior structural rigidity and deformation resistance. This characteristic directly resolves issues such as cap bulging and seal failure often encountered during high-temperature storage or long-distance maritime transport; the material withstands internal pressures of up to 0.8 MPa without undergoing plastic deformation. When used for large-diameter caps, it also demonstrates significantly improved crush and drop resistance, drastically reducing damage rates during transportation.

Superior corrosion resistance is another core value of the 3105 aluminum sheet for closure caps and a key reason why many customers choose it. The 3105 aluminum alloy inherently possesses excellent resistance to atmospheric and chemical corrosion; when paired with our customized food-grade modified polyester coating system, it delivers outstanding overall protective performance. Testing shows that the product withstands 96 hours of neutral salt spray testing without developing white rust—nearly double the performance of standard 8011aluminum products. After 72 hours of immersion in a 2% citric acid solution at a constant 40°C, the coating remains intact with no peeling or blistering. Aluminum ion migration levels fall well below the limits set by US FDA 21 CFR and EU standards for food-contact materials, making it safe for acidic or highly corrosive contents such as carbonated beverages, functional drinks, and condiments, while effectively extending shelf life.

Many industry clients worry that "high strength compromises formability." However, through directional grain rolling and multi-stage homogenization annealing, we have stabilized the earing rate of our 3105 bottle cap aluminum sheet at under 2.0%. During deep-draw forming, the cup wall thickness remains uniform, free from cracking or "orange peel" defects, and the torque fluctuation for breaking the tamper-evident bridge is ≤12%, making it fully compatible with high-speed stamping lines operating at 1,000 strokes per minute. Feedback from global mass production indicates an overall yield of over 99.5% for large-diameter tamper-evident caps made from 3105 aluminum alloy—matching the yield rates typically seen with standard small-diameter caps made from 8011 aluminum alloy.

Currently, this 3105 h14/h16 aluminum sheet is primarily used in three types of bottle cap applications:

First, tamper-evident caps for carbonated drinks, sparkling water, and beer, addressing issues like deformation caused by internal pressure and leakage.

Second, large-diameter caps for wide-mouth jars (canned goods, jams, condiments), offering enhanced structural rigidity and sealing reliability.

Third, premium caps for export-grade spirits and long-shelf-life beverages, where superior weather resistance ensures suitability for long-distance transport and extended storage.

For products requiring high internal pressure resistance and corrosion resistance, 3105 aluminum sheet has resulted in a more than 60% reduction in end-user quality complaints and an approximately 8% decrease in production line setup waste, ultimately offering a more advantageous overall manufacturing cost. Haomei Aluminum offers 3105 aluminum sheet for bottle caps, available in customized thicknesses ranging from 0.18 mm to 0.30 mm. Alloy temper, coating formulations, and slitting dimensions can be adjusted to meet specific requirements. Supported by comprehensive export compliance documentation and a robust quality traceability system, the company provides precisely tailored aluminum solutions for mid-to-high-end packaging clients worldwide.
