Lacquered Aluminum Coil For ROPP Caps
Against the backdrop of global beverage packaging moving towards high-speed mass production and standardized brand visuals, the production efficiency and appearance consistency of ROPP (Roll-on Pilfer Proof) caps have become core competitive advantages for packaging manufacturers. The traditional "uncoiling-stamping-offline coating" process generally suffers from large batch-to-batch color differences, uneven coating adhesion, and lengthy production processes. Lacquered aluminum coils, with their integrated delivery and uniform performance across the entire roll, are becoming the mainstream substrate solution for ROPP caps manufacturing. Haomei Aluminum has launched its 8011/3105 series lacquered aluminum coils to meet the molding process and brand requirements of ROPP caps. The entire process, from substrate rolling to roll coating, is fully automated, providing global customers with high-precision coil products that can be directly stamped.

As the performance base for the lacquered aluminum coils, the substrate primarily uses 8011 Al-Fe-Si alloy, supplemented by 3105 high-strength alloy, covering both H14 and H16 tempering states. The product thickness covers the mainstream range of 0.18-0.25mm. Utilizing fully continuous cold rolling and closed-loop thickness measurement technology, the thickness tolerance of the entire roll is strictly controlled within ±0.005mm, with a thickness deviation of ≤0.003mm at the beginning and end of the same roll, and a flatness of ≤2mm/m. Through directional grain control and homogenization annealing processes, the material's ear-forming rate is consistently below 1.8%, resulting in neat cup rims after deep drawing, meeting the dimensional requirements of subsequent thread rolling processes for ROPP caps. The standard roll material features a 508mm standard paper core inner diameter, with single roll weights customizable from 250-1000 Kgs. It can be directly matched with high-speed unwinding and stamping production lines, reducing downtime losses during roll changes.
The coating system is the core value module of the lacquered aluminum for ROPP caps. It adopts a double-sided roller coating structure of "front functional topcoat + back anti-corrosion primer," with continuous coating and curing throughout the entire process in a closed production line. The uniformity of the coating across the entire roll far exceeds that of offline spraying. The front coating can be made of food-grade polyester (PE) or modified epoxy, with a dry film thickness of 12-18μm; the back is equipped with a protective primer, with a dry film thickness of 5-8μm. The coating adhesion reaches grade 0 in the cross-cut adhesion test, with no cracking or peeling after 0T bending, and can withstand multiple deformation processes such as deep drawing, rolling, and embossing of ROPP caps without paint peeling. In terms of color control, the color difference within the same roll ΔE ≤ 1.0, and the color difference between batches ΔE ≤ 1.5, can accurately match PANTONE color codes, ensuring long-term brand visual consistency. Furthermore, the coating shows no abnormalities after immersion in 40% alcohol for 72 hours, and no rust after 72 hours of neutral salt spray testing. Aluminum ion migration meets FDA 21CFR and EU DGCCRF food contact standards, making it safe for contact with various alcoholic beverage contents.
For ROPP caps manufacturers, lacquered aluminum coils eliminate the need for pre-coating, drying, and quality inspection processes, allowing for direct stamping and forming. This increases production efficiency by over 30% and avoids wastewater and exhaust emissions from the coating process, better meeting global environmental compliance requirements. Designed for the roll forming characteristics of ROPP caps, the coating exhibits excellent conformability, ensuring a flawless, crack-free finish at the threaded areas after rolling. The temper evident bridge does not peel off when broken, guaranteeing the integrity of the finished product's appearance. Furthermore, the lacquered aluminum coil product supports customized slit widths based on customer bottle neck dimensions, offering various surface finishes such as matte, high-gloss, and metallic textures to suit the needs of different beverage brands.
Haomei Aluminum's lacquered aluminum coil for ROPP caps have been exported in bulk to over twenty countries and regions in Europe, Southeast Asia, and South America.
